As a whole school we have looked at the text ‘On a Beam of Light’ – a short story about Albert Einstein.

The children explored the concepts within the story linked to our Foundation of Learning ‘Thinking Skills’. They discussed how Albert Einstein was encouraged to use his thinking skills and apply his learning to the wider world.

From this, they developed questions linked to the stimulus and concepts within it such as identity, choice, freedom and thought.

Some of the examples of questions the children came up with are:

Is too much learning bad for you?

Can you learn without going to school?

Does imagination effect learning?

What is more important: education or ambition?

If we continue to learn our whole lives, will we successfully complete our goals?
