This year we took part in the Rotary International Shoe Box Appeal. Rotary Club members distributed these boxes into Eastern Europe and Africa. Children were asked if they would like to make a box that will be sent out in November ready for opening at Christmas.
In June 2013, fifteen pupils visits Szkola Podstawowa Nr 1 in Lezajsk, a town in the Podkarpacie Province of Poland sharing classes and exploring the are as a final part of the AWARE project. Plans are under way to continue with the close links formed with this school as part of the developing our international links through Erasmus+ to enable pupils to articulate their place in a multi-cultural society and the European Community.
Since 2012, some of our pupils have been supporting a children’s orphanage in Kenya exchanging letters and DVDs and raising funds. They have raised over £1,000 by cake sales and stands at the Michaelmas Fayre. Surplus library books have been sent to the orphanage. The following presentation was given to the Townswomen’s Guild in September 2015 raising another £100.
Kenya Club
Our Kenya club raised £50 which was sent to Kenya for children to buy shoes. Our cake sale on Friday, 12th February at the end of the school day raised an incredible £84.82.
