Foundation Governors:

Graham Cutter – ex officio

Deryn MartinDeryn has been a Foundation Governor since 2013 and has link responsibility for Pupil Premium.  She is Deputy Chair of the Finance and Staffing Committee and this year was elected as Vice Chair of the Governing Body.  She’s an ex-pupil of the school having attended in the 1970s.  Her son and daughter also attended and have now moved on to Bay House.  In her day job Deryn is a full time civil servant currently working for the Office of National Statistics.

Katey MalamKatey is married and has two daughters, aged 13 and 10.  The girls have grown up in Alverstoke and have progressed through the Infants, Juniors and now her eldest attends Bay House School.  Katey has lived in Alverstoke for over 20 years which is the longest she has lived anywhere having grown up in an army family and moved all around the UK and abroad.  Katey initially became a parent governor because she wanted to become more involved with the school’s ongoing efforts to improve.  Her background then, and now, is as an electronic engineering graduate who worked in the silicon design and software industries for many years prior to having a family.  She is passionate about promoting Maths and Science in school and to girls in particular.  Katey sees her role as a ‘critical friend’ to the school – being supportive, and yet challenging where necessary.

Jean Morgan – Jean started her Governor journey by being appointed as a Foundation Parent Governor when her children were attending Alverstoke Junior School and she found it be a very worthwhile role.  She has served in most positions on the Governing Body and is committed to helping the school progress.

Rev’d Chris RichardsonChris is the curate at St Mary’s Church, and loves being a member of the school community.  He particularly enjoys seeing our core Christian values of love, hope and grace being clearly demonstrated throughout the school.  With this in mind, Chris supports the school by taking Collective Worship once a week, helps out in RE lessons, supports staff wherever needed and, of course, welcomes the school into the Church for its special services throughout the year.

Tim Sharman Tim is married with 3 adult children, all of whom were pupils at the school in the 90s.  He has lived in Alverstoke since 1990, working locally in the RN and defence industry.  He is a member of St Mary’s choir and occasionally leads an evensong service.  He is also a long-standing member of Logos Community Church (Gosport).  Now retired, he is delighted to have the opportunity to support the School as a Foundation Governor”.

Judith TurnbullJudith is currently Chair of Governors. Her interest in being a governor was generated by wondering what her son got up to from 9.00 until 3.00.  Judith became a parent governor then when that term ended became a foundation governor.  Her fascination is how children learn to be the best of their ability and helping them to do so continues to this day.
