Local Authority Governor:

Katey MalamKatey is married and has two daughters, aged 13 and 10.  The girls have grown up in Alverstoke and have progressed through the Infants, Juniors and now her eldest attends Bay House School.  Katey has lived in Alverstoke for over 20 years which is the longest she has lived anywhere having grown up in an army family and moved all around the UK and abroad.  Katey initially became a parent governor because she wanted to become more involved with the school’s ongoing efforts to improve.  Her background then, and now, is as an electronic engineering graduate who worked in the silicon design and software industries for many years prior to having a family.  She is passionate about promoting Maths and Science in school and to girls in particular.  Katey sees her role as a ‘critical friend’ to the school – being supportive, and yet challenging where necessary.
