Alverstoke Church of England Junior School is committed to the health, safety and well-being of our children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We have policies and procedures in place to deal effectively with child protection and safeguarding issues which include tackling radicalisation and extremism.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads are:

Mrs Clare Slowther (Headteacher)

Miss Marissa Ballard (Deputy Headteacher)

Mrs Vicki Woods (Assistant Headteacher)

Mrs Ruth Proost (ELSA and family link worker)

The Governor with responsibility for safeguarding is Mrs Jean Morgan.

Sometimes we need to share information and work with partnership agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare.  We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

All staff at Alverstoke Church of England Junior School received annual Child Protection and Safeguarding update training and are aware of the procedures for passing on concerns within school.  If any members of the school or local community have concerns about the welfare of a child in the school, please pass then on to one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads.

Photographs and Videos

Whilst lots of parents and carers enjoy seeing photos and videos of their child’s school life we are very mindful of our duty of care towards all our pupils. We take the issue of safeguarding very seriously and this includes the use of photographic and video images.

Any photographs or videos taken by parents, carers and relatives at school events, sports days, outcomes and other events are for the enjoyment of individual families.  They must not be used in any way that could potentially place a child at risk.  This would include publishing images in any form of print or on the internet, including social media sites.

Occasionally, the local press will be invited to take photographs of school events and special achievements.  We also like to use photographs of our children on our website, newsletters and displays around the school.  We will obtain parental consent before these are used.

If any parent or carer has a concern in relation to the use of photographs and videos they should contact the school office.
